About

The Farmhouse is the original home of the orange grove owners before us. Completely restored and renovated, we now get to open our doors to host guests in this gorgeous space with so much Old Florida history! You'll be staying right on-site of Wonderfield Farm and Grove (originally Banes Grove) which is 66-acres of orange groves, idyllic cypress swamps, pastureland, and more! Your backyard is 10,000 acres of nature preserve. Walk our waterfront trails, and spend time in nature.

Good to know

The original farmhouse, recently restored and renovated! You will have this entire home to enjoy! Equipped with two, large screen porches, a beautiful living room to enjoy, and a full kitchen. Please note, this was the original farmhouse of the property, and it's location is central to farm activities. You have privacy in the home, but you may be able to see, hear, and interact with (if you so choose) our farm activities! The gardens and groves are just steps from the home which is a plus if you're looking to enjoy a true farm stay, but can be a negative if you're looking for complete seclusion. Also note, the second bathroom of the home is accessible from the outside and is considered our "public" restroom (although we are not open to public, just guests). Our farm team and also other guests, have access to this restroom from the exterior of the home. Your main bathroom is located inside of the bedroom suite and is completely private for you. Your backyard will be 66-acres of gorgeous Old Florida land. We are an "agritourism" area which means we are an active farm, that invites guest to come and experience our space. Focused on food production, we do our best to cultivate our land using permaculture principles, sustainable action, and regenerative practices. Your stay helps fund our farm, and keeps us growing! Thank you!

You are sure to get the "Old Florida" experience here at Wonderfield Farm & Grove. Located on a retired orange grove, next to a spring-fed river, among century old cypress trees. The Farmhouse is located right on the property, adjacent to a traditional neighborhood setting Gobbler Drive, but you will have access to the entire property to get away from it all! *Know that the farmhouse is not very secluded, it is setback off of Gobbler Drive, but your backyard is our 66-acre property that is a wilderness of natural beauty. Our property is just minutes away from some of the most famous springs in Florida, such as Crystal River Springs, Rainbow River Springs, Homosassa Springs, just to name a few! Besides spending a day snorkeling among the manatees, you can find plenty of other outdoor activities to do - canoeing, kayaking, and hiking - all right here on the property or just a drive away. There is a public boat ramp to access the Floral City Chain of Lakes just down the road (.25 miles away) if you plan on bringing a boat. You may park your boat, trailer, RV, on the property, no problem. Also, there's a very nice market and deli down the road next to the boat ramp for basic needs, drinks, and they make some great sandwiches too! During season (November - April) free to harvest some citrus during your stay! We love to share our abundance and know there are few things like harvesting your own food. Enjoy as breakfast, a snack, or squeeze your own orange juice! Please only harvest an amount that you'd be able to consume in a day.

Beautiful place. Close to the springs and lots of trails to hike. Great fishing spots there were tons of fish jumping! It was a nature lover's paradise. The goats, rabbit, chickens, turkey, cows, and livestock guardian dog were so fun to watch. If you like Florida history the area has a ton of historical sites and markers. We stayed for 2 days and had the best time! Each time we walked around we found something new and exciting. A truly special experience.

Wonderfield is truly a hidden gem. The place used to be an orange grove, and that history is beautifully reflected in every corner of the house—orange-themed details everywhere, done with great care and intention. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. Beyond the design, what really stands out is the atmosphere: peaceful, serene, and deeply grounding. It’s the perfect place to disconnect, recharge, and be fully present. We only stayed a short time, but we’re already planning to come back soon to enjoy the full experience—walk the land, pick oranges, breathe in the fresh air, and simply exist among the animals and nature. The energy of the place is special, even sacred. It truly feels blessed. If you’re looking for peace, beauty, and a meaningful connection to nature, I can’t recommend this place enough.

Tara and Kay’s farm is amazing. We had an amazing time even though we only stayed one night, we would have loved to stay longer and plan to come back! We got to kayak, walk the nature trail, see all their beautiful animals. They were super responsive and helpful when I misread the key code. They have a little shop you can purchase fresh eggs and jam too it was all delicious! Super spacious, me and my two friends loved the cottage and the screened in porches. Want to come back for sure!

This was an experience on top of a good place to stay. We enjoyed being on the farm. We loved feeding the goats, turkeys, chickens, cows and Dexter the farm dog. The house is as described. There is a fire pit with grill outside for fires and cooking. We saw an alligator down by the river. The bike trails are a 5 minute drive and there are miles of them. We brought our e-bikes. There are bike rental companies in town. Floral city is small but has a fresh seafood store where either they will cook or you can buy and cook at home. But it is close, by car to Inverness that has everything you could need. We enjoyed our stay so much that we extended the it for another week. The house is clean, simple with a full kitchen. The back porch is screened and quiet. We would definitely come back here. The weekends are busier as they have other accommodations on the farm. But even then it was overall quiet and peaceful. Thank you Tara and Kay for making our stay enjoyable. Enjoyed the goat soap!

This was our 2nd time staying at the farmhouse and it was such a phenomenonal experience. Ms. Kay and Tara are exceptional hosts that went above and beyond for us during our stay. The house was very cozy and stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed our daily walks on the farm and seeing all the animals. Our 6 year old was thoroughly entertained throughout our week long stay. Can't recommend enough! Looking forward to our next visit!

Me and my 4 teenage sisters had a great time staying here. We loved interacting with the animals and walking around the property looking for alligators (we saw a few too!). Our favorite area was the gazebo with two hammocks on the top deck and a fire pit down below. The hosts were super helpful and always responded quickly. When our car broke down they tried to give us a jump and when that didn’t work they helped us get it to a trustworthy shop, and even gave us a ride when the car was ready to be picked up. Overall it was great experience and we could not have felt safer as a group of young girls very far from home. I will say the house gets very sandy so I recommend leaving shoes outside!
